Please contact me at info@LittleBeesTutoring.co.uk, if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I have been a qualified primary school teacher since 2013, specialising in Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1) education. I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Early Years Education, and a post-graduate PGCE in Primary Education.
Since achieving my Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in 2013, I have been both an EYFS and KS1 class teacher, with some additional experience working with Year 3 children. My teaching experience also extends to class teaching roles as a supply teacher, a small group intervention teacher, and providing 1:1 support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
I'm excited to be able to use my teaching experience to help your children build their confidence and to provide them with opportunities to progress academically.
All of my tutoring sessions are carefully timetabled.
Face-to-face sessions take place at my own home, located in Elsea Park, Bourne, Lincolnshire. I have a dedicated tutoring room, equipped with all the essential resources to help your child learn. Therefore, I am unable to travel to your home to provide tuition.
Further details of where to find me in Elsea Park will be shared with you on your booking confirmation email.
Online sessions are facilitated through the online platform, Zoom.
I provide tuition for children aged 4-8 years old.
However, I completely understand that all children are unique and learn at different levels, and at their own pace. Therefore, if your child is older than 8, but would still benefit from tuition at EYFS, KS1 or Year 3 level, please contact me to see how I can help!
All sessions are timetabled during the weeks following the Lincolnshire County Council term dates and holiday dates.
My working days are Monday (after-school only), Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
There will be the opportunity to book blocks of tuition OR PAYG sessions during the school holidays (tutor availability dependant).
I may also offer special one-off 'holiday club' sessions during the school holidays, which will be advertised according to my availability for the holiday periods.
Face-to-Face Sessions:
Following the trial session, it is not compulsory to stay with your child during their 1:1 tutoring sessions. You are welcome to drop off and collect when the session finishes. I just ask that drop off and collection is prompt, to allow for the departure/arrival of others students.
If you do wish to stay, there is a designated seating area outside of the tutoring room for one adult only (no additional adults or children are permitted to stay with you). I ask that you are seated outside of the room to enable your child to achieve the most from their session, to allow us to make the most of the learning space and to avoid any distractions.
For group sessions:
You will have the opportunity to arrange a private pre-group 'meet & greet' session ahead of the trial group session. This is an opportunity for you and your little one to meet me ahead of them trying a group session.
However, unfortunately it is not possible to stay during the actual group session due to space restrictions. Therefore, you will be asked to drop-off and collect your child at the end of their group session.
Online Sessions:
A supervising adult must be close by when the online session is taking place, but you do not need to sit in on the session with your child. You will only need to be with your child when the activity requires your supervision for an activity.
I have been DBS checked, completed safeguarding and child protection training, and paediatric first aid training. So rest assured that your little bees will be in safe hands!
Our 1:1 sessions run for 45 minutes (40 minutes if online), and this time really does pass quickly. Therefore, to allow enough time to effectively teach and allow your child to complete their activities, it is not possible to split a session between two separate subject areas.
To ensure quality teaching and learning time for different subjects, if you would like to focus on two different subjects, I recommend spending one block focusing on one subject and another block on the other. Then, we can alternate our subject focus for each block booking. This will allow for lesson continuity and learning progression. We can also alternate the subject focus with a 6-week block of tuition. Alternatively, you may like to book additional sessions per week.
Please discuss your tuition needs with me to see what I can do to help.
Yes, I offer 1:1 tuition, buddy groups and home-ed learning clubs online through Zoom, and face-to-face, for home-educated children. These are available during the day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
I completely understand and respect that not all children are comfortable being on screen, especially in group settings. Therefore, for our online group sessions, your child does not have to have their camera switched on for the whole session. I only ask that the camera is initially switched on when they join each online class, so that I can take attendance. Then they can switch the camera off for the remainder of the session if they wish too.
Your child can communicate through the Zoom chat function or microphone if needed. My priority is to create a comfortable and inclusive environment for all participants.
For 1:1 sessions, I do require the camera to be switched on. This enables me to fully support your child with their learning. However, your child doesn't always need to be in view of the screen. There will be parts of the online session that require your child to hold up work they have done to the screen and for them to be visible during activities. Having the camera on facilitates this interactive learning experience, and enables me to support your child.
A trial session replaces any pre-session phone/video calls. Therefore, it's more of a get to know you session, and to check that Little Bees Tutoring is the right fit for your child.
Your trial session will last the same length of time as standard tutoring sessions.
The trial session is a chance for you and your child to meet me, for you to see the tutoring room (face-to-face tuition), to discuss tuition needs further, and for me to observe their level of learning through a range of activities (for maths, writing and phonics). These activities will help inform my decisions about how best to support your child for future tutoring sessions.
For face-to-face activity group trials and Buddy Groups, you will have the opportunity to book a private pre-group 'meet & greet' session ahead of the group trial. This session will allow you and your little one to become familiar with me and the learning room, and give you the chance to ask any further questions etc, before leaving them to try a group session independently.
For the trial group session, parents/guardians will be asked to leave their children with me when the session starts and return to collect them at the end. This allows us to complete some activities as a group and gives each child the opportunity to see how they feel about being in a small group.
For online trials. you will be able to sit in a session quietly with your child, while they experience and participate in the session. I will then contact you after the session via email, to check-in with you and see if you would like to book onto future sessions.
Trials are not required for our online activity groups (learning clubs)
The session fee covers:
All sessions are timetabled in alignment with the Lincolnshire County Council term dates and holiday dates. It may be possible to continue your child's tuition through the school holidays, as long as I am available.
Prices advertised are per child, each session and also apply to your trial session. Current prices will always be advertised on our website.
Following the trial, for 1:1 and Buddy Group sessions, you will be able to book and pay for a block of tutoring sessions where your child will attend sessions on a weekly basis. Therefore, the total amount payable will be inclusive of all sessions scheduled within the block.
Some online Home-Ed group sessions can be booked as PAYG sessions.
The online booking system 'Bookwhen', is where you will register and book your tutoring sessions, and payment is taken in advance at the time of booking. A link to book your session will be provided to you following our initial discussion.
Yes, I have an enhanced DBS check and registered on the update service. Additionally, other adults within my home have also been DBS checked.
I have also completed safeguarding and child protection training, and I am paediatric first aid trained.
Overall, I am completely covered to tutor your little bees!
